Dussehra 2024: The festival of victory of good over evil

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the major festivals of India. This festival is celebrated every year on the Dashami date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. The festival of Dussehra symbolizes the victory of good over evil, And on this day Lord Ram had killed Ravana and established Dharma on the Earth.


Dussehra 2024 Date and Puja Muhurta

Dussehra will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12 in 2024. Following are the Puja Muhurtas on this day:

·  Auspicious time for Puja: 14:02 pm to 14:49 pm (approximately 47 minutes)

·  Vijaya Dashami Tithi: From sunrise to 8:35 pm on October 12, 2024.

In this auspicious time, devotees should worship Lord Ram and organize Ravana Dahan.

Importance of Dussehra

The festival of Dussehra not only holds religious significance, but it also teaches us that no matter how many difficulties come in life, we should always follow the path of truth and dharma. This festival inspires us to face evil and teaches us unity, Spreads the message of love and tolerance.

Ramlila is organized at various places on the day of Dussehra. The story of Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshman is staged in Ramlila. It is not only a religious event but also a cultural festivals that brings people together.

Method of worship

The following method can be followed to perform puja on Dussehra:

1.    Cleanliness: Clean the place of worship and place a picture or idol of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman on a stand there.

2.    Materials: Keep flowers, incense sticks, dhoop, naivedya, and sweets for puja.

3.    Lighting the lamp: Light the lamp and do the Aarti of the God.

4.    Pradakshina: Circumambulate the Lord three times and offer prasad as per your devotion.

5.    Dahan: At the end of the day, burn the effigies of Raavan, Meghnath, and Kumbhakarna. This symbolizes the end of evil.

Position of special planets on Dussehra

The position of the planets at the time of Dussehra also holds special significance. This year, the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Mars are considered particularly auspicious. This time indicates positive changes in business success, education, and personal life. Starting any new work or working on any specific plan can be beneficial at this time.
